Clintondale Football

The year was 1998 and a group of men were assembled by then head-coach Jim Scarcelli to
coach the Clintondale Dragon football team. The torch was passed from retiring varsity football coach, Bill Apsia. Throughout the years, the main nucleus of coaches has remained together to continue the winning ways of the Clintondale Football Program.

Now head coach and Clintondale alumni Dave Schindler leads the Dragons. To the credit of all those who have contributed are: nearly 100 varsity program wins, nine playoff appearances (including two region appearances), 5 league championships, 3 district championships, and many players sent to college to play football. With stats like that, the Dragon Program is one of the best in the tri-county area. Only Sterling Heights Stevenson has better stats in the area.

On another note, the coaches are still striving to do better in the future. The main goal of the football program is to win a state championship. However, equally as important are the efforts and emphasis to insure that all athletes do well academically. Win or lose, all that participate and embrace the experience leave better than when they entered.

Fundraising has also been a program priority. The proceeds directly benefit the players by: providing t-shirts for each year and playoff appearances, projectors, and other essentials that are not part of the football budget. If you would like to make a contribution to the program, follow the link on the navigation bar (Fundraising). Also, check out the calendar on the home page to join us at the North Gratiot Bingo Hall every Tuesday for the bingo fundraiser.
